No-exam life insurance
Which applicants are eligible for fast-track underwriting, the steps involved, and what the process looks like if you do not qualify for it.
Today, many carriers offer accelerated underwriting: if you meet their age and amount thresholds, they render a decision through your application, pharmacy and driving records, and third-party databases rather than ordering an exam. Some carriers return a decision within hours. Each quote listing here tells you if an exam is required, might be required, or is not required.
What it changes
Underwriting still occurs even when there is no exam. The carrier verifies your statements, and if a policy was issued based on false information, it can be challenged in the first two years. If what the carrier learns about you through records creates concerns, they may ask for an exam or blood tests anyway—you then decide if you want to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually this applies to applicants younger than around 60, seeking coverage within the carrier's accelerated underwriting threshold, with a clear health history and no tobacco in the past year or longer. When you have recent medical records with blood work from a doctor's appointment, certain carriers will use those instead of ordering an exam.
If needed, the exam typically runs 20 to 30 minutes and happens at your home or workplace in the Whittier area with no cost to you. For applicants in good health, test results often qualify you for a better rate tier, so undergoing an exam can actually be helpful.
